Spot What Changed Between Two Texts

Paste an original and an edited version to see added, removed and unchanged lines highlighted, with a summary of the change size.

About this tool

Proofreading two versions side by side by eye is slow and misses small edits. A diff aligns the lines and marks exactly which ones were added or removed.

Works for prose, configuration files and code snippets alike. Switch between a combined view and a side-by-side layout depending on what you need to see.

  • Line-level comparison
  • Green for additions, red for removals
  • Change summary and side-by-side mode

Frequently asked questions

Can I compare code as well as prose?
Yes. The comparison is line based, so source files, configs and plain paragraphs all work the same way.
Why do some lines look identical but still show as changed?
Trailing spaces, tabs or line endings can differ without being visible. Those differences still count as changes.
Is either version stored anywhere?
No. Both texts are compared inside the browser and are discarded when you close the page.
